Vietnam’s imports of pharmaceutical materials reached US$44.55 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a decrease of 15.34 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) import value of US$172.91 million.
China remains the dominant supplier despite a decrease:
China was the leading supplier of pharmaceutical materials to Vietnam in April, with imports valued at US$33.31 million. This marks a decrease of 10.76 percent from March but still accounts for a significant 72.98 percent of the total year-to-date imports.
India sees a notable decrease but remains a key supplier:
India was the second-largest supplier in April, with imports valued at US$8.18 million, a decrease of 24.35 percent from the previous month. India accounts for 17.14 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Italy records a significant increase:
Imports from Italy experienced a substantial increase of 43.18 percent in April, reaching US$534,469. Italy accounts for 1.05 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Austria sees a substantial rise:
Imports from Austria saw a significant increase of 147.48 percent in April, with a value of US$478,366. Austria accounts for 0.50 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:
Austria experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 147.48 percent, followed by Singapore. Conversely, Spain experienced the most significant decrease at 88.77 percent, followed by Germany at 87.59 percent and Switzerland at 69.58 percent. Imports from Thailand ceased entirely in April.
