Vietnam’s footwear industry

Vietnam has emerged as one of the world’s largest footwear exporters.

The industry employs thousands of workers and serves as a crucial manufacturing sector, attracting major international brands that have established production facilities across the country.

Major footwear manufacturers, including Nike, Adidas, and Puma, have shifted significant production capacity to Vietnam, taking advantage of competitive labour costs and an increasingly skilled workforce.

The sector faces ongoing challenges, including rising labour costs, competition from other Southeast Asian nations, and pressure to adopt more sustainable and environmentally friendly manufacturing practices.

Vietnamese footwear exports generate billions of dollars annually, with key markets including the United States, European Union, China, and Japan.
