Industry: Vietnam’s top import sources for machine, equipment, tools and instruments in June 2025

Vietnam’s imports of machine, equipment, tools and instruments saw a significant decline in June 2025, reaching $5,095,409,614, a -4.29 percent decrease compared to May 2025 according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

Despite the overall month-on-month decrease, several countries remain vital suppliers to Vietnam, with the year-to-date total for this product category standing at $27,989,701,885.

In June 2025, the top five sources by dollar value for Vietnam’s imports of machine, equipment, tools and instruments were:

China

China emerged as the top supplier in June, with import values reaching $3,269,582,326.

This represents a -5.07 percent month-on-month change from May.

China’s year-to-date total for these imports stands at $17,707,598,798, accounting for 63.26 percent of all YTD imports in this category.

South Korea

South Korea followed as the second-largest source, with June imports valued at $400,479,134.

This figure indicates a -10.50 percent month-on-month change.

South Korea’s year-to-date total for these imports is $2,308,591,311, representing 8.25 percent of the total YTD imports for this product category.

Japan

Japan secured the third position in June with imports totaling $388,113,334.

This indicates a 0.06 percent month-on-month change.

Its year-to-date contribution to Vietnam’s imports of machine, equipment, tools and instruments is $2,448,520,189, making up 8.75 percent of the total YTD imports.

Taiwan

Taiwan contributed $132,128,956 worth of machine, equipment, tools and instruments in June.

Notably, Taiwan experienced a -15.28 percent month-on-month decrease.

Taiwan’s year-to-date total for these imports is $756,702,815, accounting for 2.70 percent of the total YTD imports for this product.

USA

The USA rounded out the top five import sources with $126,759,174 in June imports.

This country showed strong positive momentum with a 45.00 percent month-on-month increase.

The USA’s year-to-date total for these imports is $554,051,719, representing 1.98 percent of the total YTD imports for this category.
