Despite the overall month-on-month decrease, several countries remain vital suppliers to Vietnam, with the year-to-date total for this product category standing at $5,379,195,346.
In June 2025, the top five sources by dollar value for Vietnam’s imports of iron and steel were:
China
China emerged as the top supplier in June, with import values reaching $488,765,835.
This represents an 8.22 percent month-on-month change from May.
China’s year-to-date total for these imports stands at $2,810,940,837, accounting for 52.26 percent of all YTD imports in this category.
Japan
Japan followed as the second-largest source, with June imports valued at $120,169,039.
This figure indicates a -3.20 percent month-on-month change.
Japan’s year-to-date total for these imports is $774,207,634, representing 14.39 percent of the total YTD imports for this product category.
South Korea
South Korea secured the third position in June with imports totaling $76,128,313.
This indicates a -26.36 percent month-on-month change.
Its year-to-date contribution to Vietnam’s imports of iron and steel is $576,995,897, making up 10.73 percent of the total YTD imports.
Indonesia
Indonesia contributed $72,773,571 worth of iron and steel in June.
Notably, Indonesia experienced a significant -61.62 percent month-on-month decrease.
Indonesia’s year-to-date total for these imports is $776,983,404, accounting for 14.44 percent of the total YTD imports for this product.
Taiwan
Taiwan rounded out the top five import sources with $42,788,520 in June imports.
This country saw a -6.79 percent month-on-month decrease.
Taiwan’s year-to-date total for these imports is $287,137,665, representing 5.34 percent of the total YTD imports for this category.
