Vietnam’s gasoline and oil industry is a cornerstone of its energy system, supplying fuel for transport, manufacturing, and electricity generation.
Vietnam continues to modernise its refining and storage infrastructure while exploring offshore oil fields and trying to expand petrochemical capacity.
The sector is driven by domestic refining complexes such as Dung Quat and Nghi Son, which help reduce reliance on imported petroleum, though imports are still a big part of Vietnam’s fuel mix.
Of note, Vietnam imported US$557.59 million of petroleum products in August, a sharp 26.45 percent decline from July.
Singapore remained the top supplier with US$132.45 million, down 34.82 percent month-on-month, and accounting for nearly 37 percent of the total.
South Korea followed with US$173.03 million, down 37.10 percent.
