Electronics: Vietnam imports sees slight dip in April, still strong YTD

Vietnam’s imports of computers, electrical products, spare parts, and components thereof reached US$11.24 billion in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a 2.18 percent decrease compared to the import value in March. However, the year-to-date import value for this sector remains substantial at US$42.88 billion.

China Dominates Electronics Imports:

China continued to be the leading source of these electronics-related imports, with a value of US$4.02 billion in April. This marks a slight 0.32 percent increase from March and accounts for a significant 33.54 percent of the total year-to-date imports in this category.

South Korea Remains a Key Supplier:

South Korea maintained its position as a major supplier, with imports valued at US$2.78 billion in April. This represents a 9.40 percent decrease from the previous month but still constitutes a substantial 26.46 percent of the year-to-date total. Taiwan also played a significant role, with imports reaching US$1.71 billion, a 5.85 percent increase from March and 14.63 percent of the YTD figure.

Notable Month-on-Month Changes:

Several countries experienced significant month-on-month changes in their electronics exports to Vietnam. India saw a substantial increase of 67.40 percent, while Singapore’s imports rose by 53.13 percent. Conversely, imports from the Czech Republic saw a sharp decline of 57.92 percent, and France experienced a decrease of 57.37 percent.

Ireland and Israel Show Significant YTD Contributions:

While not the top monthly suppliers, Ireland and Israel have contributed significantly to the year-to-date import figures, accounting for 2.13 percent and 1.99 percent respectively.

Overall Sector Remains Strong:

Despite the slight dip in April, the overall import value of computers, electrical products, spare parts, and components remains a dominant sector in Vietnam’s import landscape, accounting for 100 percent of the specified YTD total.
