Crude oil: Vietnam April imports down 6.88 percent over March, Kuwait lead supplier

Vietnam’s imports of crude oil reached US$698.05 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a 6.88 percent decrease compared to the import value in March, with a year-to-date import value of US$2.88 billion for this category.

Kuwait is the dominant crude oil supplier:

Kuwait was the leading supplier of crude oil to Vietnam in April, with imports valued at US$581.95 million. This marks a 5.77 percent decrease from March but accounts for a substantial 79.68 percent of the total year-to-date crude oil imports.

Nigeria remains a significant supplier:

Nigeria continued to be a notable supplier of crude oil to Vietnam, with imports valued at US$75.40 million in April. This represents a 5.90 percent decrease from the previous month and constitutes 5.43 percent of the YTD figure.

Brunei Darussalam’s imports decrease:

Interestingly, the data indicates a significant shift in imports from Brunei Darussalam, with the April figure showing US$51.93 million. However, the YTD percentage indicates this might reflect a change in reporting or a specific shipment timing, as it contributes 1.73 percent to the total YTD.
