Vietnam’s exports of cashew nuts reached US$550.84 million in May 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a significant increase of 11.49 percent compared to April, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) export value to US$1.88 billion.
USA and China remain top destinations with robust performance:
The USA saw a substantial surge of 27.75 percent in May, with exports reaching US$117.61 million. This solidifies its position as a leading market, accounting for 21.59 percent of the YTD total.
China also continued its strong performance, with exports increasing by 4.88 percent to US$156.39 million, maintaining its overall lead with 22.02 percent of YTD exports.
Lithuania, Italy, and Saudi Arabia record explosive growth:
Several markets exhibited remarkable month-on-month growth in May:
- South Africa recorded an astonishing surge of 744.16%, albeit from a lower base.
- Kazakhstan exports jumped by 142.49%.
- Italy saw a significant increase of 62.87%.
- Lithuania exports surged by 56.76% to US$11.88 million.
- Saudi Arabia also experienced strong growth of 34.58%.
- Thailand and France showed notable increases of over 20%.
- Ukraine emerged as a new export market in May, with no recorded exports in April.
Notable declines in other markets:
Conversely, some markets experienced substantial declines in May:
- Norway saw a drop of 40.63%.
- Russia exports decreased by 29.05%.
- Philippines exports fell by 24.55%.
- Pakistan exports decreased by 22.11%.
- Israel exports decreased by 19.91%.
- Spain and Taiwan also experienced double-digit percentage decreases.
The overall strong increase in May’s cashew nut exports highlights robust global demand, with Vietnam’s key markets like the USA and China driving much of the growth, complemented by impressive surges from emerging and smaller markets.
