Vietnam imported cashew nut to the tune of US$264 million in November, up from US$258 million in October, a change of 2.18 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year to date, Vietnam had imported US$4,246 million worth of cashew nut by the end of November.
Ivory Coast accounted for US$100 million worth of Vietnam’s cashew nut imports in November. This was down from US$107 million in cashew nut imports in October, a change of 7.26 percent. Year to date, Ivory Coast has shipped US$1,030 million worth of cashew nut to Vietnam.
After Ivory Coast was Nigeria making up US$18 million worth of Vietnam’s cashew nut imports in November. This was up from US$18 million in cashew nut imports in October, a change of 1.97 percent. Year to date, Nigeria has shipped US$402 million worth of cashew nut to Vietnam.
Next was Ghana contributing US$17 million worth of Vietnam’s cashew nut imports in November. This was down from US$18 million in cashew nut imports in October, a change of 7.39 percent. Year to date, Ghana has shipped US$337 million worth of cashew nut to Vietnam.
Following Ghana was Indonesia representing US$12 million worth of Vietnam’s cashew nut imports in November. This was down from US$13 million in cashew nut imports in October, a change of 8.98 percent. Year to date, Indonesia has shipped US$54 million worth of cashew nut to Vietnam.

Vietnam’s cashew nut industry
Vietnam is one of the world’s largest cashew nut processors and exporters, with the industry centred on processing rather than domestic raw nut production.
Most raw cashews are imported from Africa and processed in industrial clusters before being exported to major markets such as the United States, the European Union and China.
