Foreign direct investment (FDI) from Canada into Vietnam has been growing steadily, driven by strong trade relations and opportunities in Vietnam’s expanding economy. Key areas of Canadian investment include agriculture, education, renewable energy, and technology. Canadian companies have introduced advanced expertise in sectors such as clean energy and agri-tech, while educational partnerships between the two nations have facilitated knowledge transfer and workforce development.
The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) has further strengthened economic ties, providing Canadian investors with preferential access to Vietnam’s market. Vietnam’s favourable investment climate, coupled with its growing consumer base and commitment to sustainable development, has attracted Canadian interest. As both nations continue to enhance bilateral cooperation, FDI from Canada is expected to play an increasingly important role in Vietnam’s economic development, particularly in innovation-driven and environmentally sustainable sectors.
