Vietnam’s imports of animal fodders and animal fodder materials amounted to $426 million in May, representing a 4.27% increase compared to April. For the year-to-date, total imports in this category reached $2 billion, according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
The total import value in May was slightly up from $408 million recorded in April.
Key source countries in May:
Argentina continued to be the main source of animal fodders and animal fodder materials for Vietnam, despite a significant month-on-month decrease. Imports from Argentina in May were valued at $154 million, down 17.95% from April, but still accounting for 41.91% of the total year-to-date imports.
The United States was the second-largest supplier, with imports valued at $97 million in May, marking a substantial 65.24% increase from April. The US share of year-to-date imports stands at 16.20%.
Brazil ranked third, with imports of $44 million in May, a decrease of 14.12% from April. Brazil accounts for 13.94% of the year-to-date imports.
China and India also contributed significantly. Imports from China reached $30 million in May, up 15.02% from April, while imports from India surged by 60.57% to $18 million.
Notable increases and decreases:
Several countries saw notable month-on-month increases in their exports to Vietnam in May:
- Spain: Imports jumped by 22.04% to $4 million.
- France: Imports increased by 50.69% to $3 million.
- Philippines: Imports rose by 55.21% to $1 million.
- Belgium: Imports more than doubled, increasing by 79.15% to $1 million.
- Italy: Imports saw a significant rise of 41.42% to $1 million.
- Hungary: Imports soared by 402.61% to $0.5 million.
- Turkey: Imports were up by 65.81% to $0.3 million.
Conversely, some countries experienced declines:
- Taiwan: Imports fell by 24.65% to $3 million.
- UAE: Imports saw a sharp decrease of 61.89% to $1 million.
- Mexico: Imports dropped by 60.89% to $0.3 million.
Year-to-date performance:
Overall, the total value of animal fodder and material imports for the year-to-date is $2 billion. Argentina maintains the largest share of these imports at 41.91%, followed by the United States (16.20%) and Brazil (13.94%).
