Currency: Vietnamese dong weakens against dollar as black market premium widens
The Vietnamese dong continued its gradual decline against the US dollar, with both official and parallel market rates showing weakness as the gap between black market and central bank rates expanded.
Stock market: Vietnamese stocks close lower, foreign investors net-sell US$66 million
Vietnamese equities ended Monday’s session in negative territory, with the benchmark VN-INDEX falling 1.46 percent as broad-based selling pressure weighed on most sectors and foreign investors maintained their net selling streak, according to the latest data from the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.
Exports: Vietnam exports to Switzerland down 16.6 percent in August
Vietnam exported US$14.49 million to Switzerland in August, a 16.61 percent decline from July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date exports reached US$119.77 million.
Trade: Vietnam exports to Taiwan down 6.1 percent in August
Vietnam exported US$540.37 million worth of goods to Taiwan in August, a 6.14 percent decline from July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date exports reached US$4.42 billion.

Vietnam imported US$200.90 million worth of paper in August, down 11.13 percent from July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date imports reached US$1.60 billion.
