Wheat: Vietnam imports surge in April, Brazil remains top supplier despite decrease

Vietnam’s imports of wheat reached US$207.69 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a substantial increase of 56.54 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) import value of US$637.93 million.

Brazil remains the leading supplier despite a significant decrease:

Brazil was the top supplier of wheat to Vietnam in April, with imports valued at US$40.29 million. This marks a significant decrease of 45.84 percent from March but still accounts for the largest share of the year-to-date imports at 39.88 percent.

Australia sees a massive increase to become a major supplier:

Australia experienced an extraordinary surge of 90.45 percent in April, with imports valued at US$65.06 million. Australia is now the second-largest single country supplier, accounting for 23.75 percent of the year-to-date imports.

Canada records an enormous increase:

Imports from Canada saw an enormous increase of 2974.07 percent in April, reaching US$34.03 million. Canada accounts for 8.27 percent of the year-to-date imports.

USA sees a substantial rise:

Imports from the USA also rose significantly by 200.94 percent in April, reaching US$29.84 million, contributing 7.10 percent to the year-to-date total.

Russia experiences a massive increase:

Imports from Russia increased dramatically by 348.32 percent in April, reaching US$5.31 million. Russia accounts for 6.23 percent of the year-to-date imports.

Ukraine records imports in April after none in March:

Notably, Vietnam recorded US$19.18 million in wheat imports from Ukraine in April, compared to no imports in the previous month.
