Vietnam’s plastic product imports rise by 5.09 percent in December

Vietnam imported US$833.22 million worth of plastic products in December 2024, reflecting a 5.09 percent increase compared to November, according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date imports for this category reached US$8.85 billion.

China remained the largest supplier, exporting US$502.44 million worth of plastic products, a month-on-month growth of 5.05 percent. South Korea followed with US$125.64 million, increasing by 3.72 percent. Japan’s exports also rose by 4.63 percent, reaching US$74.45 million.

Notable growth was recorded from the USA, with imports rising 8.81 percent to US$17.91 million, while other suppliers collectively contributed US$41.89 million, representing a significant 22.19 percent increase. However, imports from Germany, Indonesia, and the UK declined by 3.40 percent, 9.87 percent, and 22.86 percent, respectively.
