Vietnam imported US$1.12 billion worth of plastics in December 2024, reflecting an 8.52 percent increase compared to November, according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. The year-to-date imports reached US$11.78 billion.
China remained the top supplier, exporting US$331.75 million in December, up 6.68 percent month-on-month. South Korea followed with US$191.84 million, a 7.59 percent rise, while Taiwan recorded a slight decline of 1.27 percent, with imports totalling US$111.41 million.
Significant growth was observed in imports from smaller suppliers. Singapore’s exports to Vietnam rose by 28.27 percent to US$30.42 million, while Indonesia registered a similar increase of 28.39 percent, reaching US$20.46 million. Imports from Thailand grew sharply by 21.79 percent to US$66.57 million, and the USA recorded a 15.19 percent jump to US$72.42 million.
