Vietnam’s imports of rubber products fall 23.80 percent in January

Vietnam’s imports of rubber products decreased by 23.80 percent month-on-month in January, reaching US$80.37 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows a decline from US$105.48 million recorded in December.

Year-to-date, Vietnam’s total imports of rubber products stood at US$80.37 million. China remained the largest supplier, contributing US$43.77 million, or 54.4 percent of the total, followed by Japan with US$8.21 million, representing 10.2 percent, and South Korea with US$7.82 million.

Among major suppliers, France recorded the highest month-on-month growth, increasing by 62.82 percent, while Malaysia showed a modest rise of 2.32 percent. In contrast, the UK experienced the steepest decline, with imports falling 66.35 percent. Other key suppliers, such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Germany, also posted significant drops of 58.68 percent, 56.60 percent, and 43.18 percent, respectively.

The rubber product market in Vietnam remains heavily dependent on China, which accounts for nearly half of total imports. While France and Malaysia showed some growth, overall imports from most suppliers declined, indicating shifting sourcing patterns and possibly weaker demand for rubber products.
