Vietnam’s imports of rubber decreased by 25.55 percent month-on-month in January, reaching US$282.94 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows a decline from US$380.03 million recorded in December.
Year-to-date, Vietnam’s total imports of rubber stood at US$282.94 million. Cambodia remained the largest supplier, contributing US$123.72 million, or 43.7 percent of the total, followed by China with US$46.26 million, representing 16.4 percent, and Laos with US$22.86 million.
Among major suppliers, Myanmar recorded the highest month-on-month growth, increasing by 4.76 percent, while Japan showed slight growth of 1.97 percent. In contrast, Russia experienced the steepest decline, with imports falling 42.39 percent. Other key suppliers, such as Indonesia, Laos, and South Korea, also posted significant drops of 36.72 percent, 39.69 percent, and 24.77 percent, respectively.
The rubber import market in Vietnam continues to be highly dependent on Cambodia, which accounts for nearly half of total imports. While Myanmar showed slight growth, overall imports from most suppliers declined, suggesting changing demand patterns and potentially weaker market conditions for rubber.
