Vietnam’s imports of insulated wires and cables decreased by 11.66 percent month-on-month in January to US$307.72 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows a decline from US$348.34 million recorded in December.
Year-to-date, Vietnam’s total imports of insulated wires and cables stood at US$307.72 million. China remained the largest supplier, contributing US$214.42 million, or 69.6 percent of the total. South Korea followed with US$26.38 million, representing 8.6 percent, while Thailand supplied US$9.84 million.
Among major suppliers, Taiwan recorded the highest month-on-month growth, increasing 70.32 percent, followed by Singapore at 47.70 percent. In contrast, Malaysia saw the steepest decline, with imports falling 47.84 percent. Japan and the Philippines also posted significant drops of 33.61 percent and 39.20 percent, respectively.
The industry continues to be heavily reliant on China, which accounted for nearly 70 percent of Vietnam’s insulated wires and cables imports. While Taiwan and Singapore showed strong growth, overall imports from most key suppliers declined, reflecting fluctuating demand and supply chain adjustments.
