Vietnam imported goods worth US$2.04 billion from Taiwan in November, a slight decline of 0.47 percent compared to October, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date imports amounted to US$20.73 billion.
Computers, electrical products, and spare parts remained the largest import category, contributing US$1.26 billion, though this represented a 5.35 percent decrease month-on-month. Fabrics followed at US$117.38 million, also declining by 5.45 percent. Machinery, equipment, tools, and instruments saw a sharper drop of 7.15 percent, reaching US$119.91 million.
Plastics imports showed robust growth, increasing by 22.78 percent to US$112.84 million, while chemical imports rose significantly by 51.81 percent, amounting to US$55.81 million. Conversely, still image and video cameras fell by 15.61 percent to US$45.88 million.
The modest overall decline underscores the balance in Vietnam’s import trade with Taiwan, with strong growth in plastics and chemicals offsetting declines in other categories such as electronics and machinery.
