Vietnam’s glass and glassware exports decline by 6.59 percent in January

Vietnam’s glass and glassware exports fell by 6.59 percent month-on-month in January, reaching US$102.29 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

Singapore remained the largest market, accounting for 52.00 percent of total exports at US$53.19 million, a slight decrease of 1.91 percent from December. The US followed with US$23.06 million, representing 22.54 percent of total exports, rising by 5.70 percent. Malaysia ranked third with US$4.48 million, making up 4.38 percent of total exports and increasing by 17.73 percent.

Compared to December, Japan recorded the highest growth among major markets, rising by 24.30 percent to US$1.43 million. Malaysia also saw strong growth, increasing by 17.73 percent. In contrast, exports to China and Canada declined sharply, falling by 88.75 percent and 78.37 percent, respectively.

The top three markets—Singapore, the US, and Malaysia—accounted for 78.92 percent of Vietnam’s total glass and glassware exports in January. Despite gains in select markets, the overall decline was driven by weaker demand in China, Canada, and other key destinations.
