Vietnam’s gaseous natural gas production for December 2024 is projected to be 542.7 million cubic meters, with an estimated total of 6.32 billion cubic meters for the entire year, according to Vietnam’s General Office of Statistics. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 12.4 percent compared to 2023, but the industry remains an important part of the nation’s energy sector.
In November 2024, the country produced 496.6 million cubic meters of gaseous natural gas, reflecting solid output despite a slight decline in December.
Natural gas plays a key role in Vietnam’s energy strategy, contributing to electricity generation and industrial processes. The country continues to develop its natural gas reserves, balancing the need for energy security with sustainable growth.
Despite challenges such as fluctuating global gas prices and the need for further investment in infrastructure, Vietnam’s natural gas industry is set to remain a central component of its energy mix. The government is committed to ensuring the sustainable development of natural gas resources to support both domestic consumption and export needs.
