Vietnam’s fishery product exports fell by 11.25 percent month-on-month in January, reaching US$773.95 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

China was the largest market, accounting for 23.32 percent of total exports at US$180.48 million, a 16.02 percent increase from December. Japan followed with US$120.31 million, making up 15.54 percent of total exports, with a slight decline of 0.46 percent. The US ranked third with US$106.85 million, representing 13.81 percent of total exports, dropping by 29.00 percent.

Compared to December, Italy saw the highest growth among major markets, rising by 20.12 percent to US$9.63 million. Poland and Sweden also recorded strong increases, growing by 28.45 percent and 48.47 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, exports to Taiwan fell sharply by 56.63 percent, while shipments to Algeria saw the steepest decline at 80.50 percent.

The top five markets—China, Japan, the US, South Korea, and Australia—accounted for 63.11 percent of Vietnam’s total fishery exports in January. While China showed strong demand, declines in major markets such as the US and South Korea contributed to the overall drop in export value.
