Key export products:
- Textiles and garments: Exports amounted to US$98.90 million, reflecting a modest growth of 2.13 percent from the previous month. This sector remains a staple of Vietnam’s export portfolio.
- Machine equipment, tools, and instruments: Significant growth of 35.61 percent was recorded, reaching US$72.61 million, driven by increased demand for industrial equipment.
- Computers, electrical products, and spare parts: With US$61.12 million in exports, this category saw a 17.56 percent increase, underscoring the rising importance of Vietnam’s technology sector in global trade.
- Telephones, mobile phones, and parts: Continuing strong performance with US$66.12 million in exports, up 34.69 percent, reflecting robust demand in the mobile technology market.
- Footwear: This sector performed well with US$53.98 million in exports, showing a solid growth of 44.74 percent.
- Fishery products: Despite a slight decline of 2.37 percent, this category still brought in US$26.05 million, highlighting the stability of Vietnam’s seafood exports.
Year-to-date (YTD) figures: Vietnam’s total exports to Canada have reached US$5.25 billion year-to-date, up from US$5.15 billion last year, further strengthening the bilateral trade relationship.
Overall, the diverse growth across multiple export sectors in October 2024 indicates that Vietnam’s economy continues to benefit from its varied export base, with textiles, electronics, and footwear leading the way.
