Vietnam’s exports to Australia reached US$471.42 million in October, reflecting a significant drop of 26.05 percent compared to September. The year-to-date export value stood at US$5.50 billion, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Machine, equipment, tools, and instruments saw a steep decline of 60.1 percent to US$61.6 million. Telephones and mobile phones also dropped by 47.31 percent, totalling US$27.07 million. Computers, electrical products, and spare parts fell by 15.01 percent to US$58.35 million. Crude oil exports halted entirely, contributing no value in October.
In contrast, several categories demonstrated resilience. Textiles and garments grew by 4.4 percent to US$48.22 million, while other products increased by 24.86 percent to US$40.86 million. Other means of transportation and parts experienced robust growth, surging 54.31 percent to US$10.29 million. Exports of rice rose sharply by 34.74 percent to US$4.51 million, and clinker and cement exports recorded an exceptional growth of 136.63 percent, totalling US$3.55 million.
However, sectors like fruits and vegetables saw a decline of 3.19 percent, contributing US$9.44 million, while coffee fell by 2.66 percent to US$2.07 million.
The mixed performance indicates shifting demand patterns in the Australian market, highlighting the need for Vietnam to adapt its trade strategies to emerging opportunities and challenges.
