Vietnam’s chemical imports rise by 10.45 percent in December

Vietnam imported US$710.70 million worth of chemicals in December 2024, reflecting a 10.45 percent increase compared to November, according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date imports for this category reached US$8.29 billion.

China remained the largest supplier, exporting US$308.37 million worth of chemicals, a month-on-month growth of 10.00 percent. Taiwan followed with US$61.32 million, rising 9.86 percent. Significant growth was also observed from Japan, with imports increasing by 32.67 percent to US$49.22 million, and South Korea, which rose by 24.13 percent to US$45.82 million.

Smaller suppliers showed notable growth, including Germany at 91.18 percent, contributing US$39.21 million, and Singapore, which doubled its exports with a 100.72 percent increase to US$14.86 million. Conversely, imports from the USA and India declined by 39.00 percent and 5.05 percent, respectively.
