Vietnam seafood exports fall 6.23 percent September over August

Vietnam’s seafood exports fell 6.23 percent in September over August from US$983.2 million to US$921.9 million. Vietnam’s seafood exports for the year now stand at US$7.23 billion which represents an increase of 9.5 percent over the same period last year.

Of note:

  • China saw a 9.59 percent increase in seafood exports for September, reaching US$197.32 million, with year-to-date exports totaling US$1.21 billion. 
  • In contrast, exports to the USA dropped by 13.77 percent, amounting to US$171.41 million for the month, and year-to-date exports reached US$1.33 billion. 
  • Japan’s exports fell by 3.24 percent to US$133.52 million in September, with YTD exports at US$1.11 billion.
  • South Korea experienced a significant 22.38 percent decline, with exports totaling US$58.19 million in September, and YTD exports reaching US$568.78 million.
  • Australia showed growth with a 9.34 percent increase, bringing exports to US$33.34 million in September and US$248.61 million for the year.
  • The UK saw a decrease of 15.48 percent, with US$30.39 million in September and YTD exports of US$238.76 million.
