Retail sales for cultural and educational items in Vietnam experienced a significant decline in October, according to Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade data.
In September, sales in this category stood at VND 6.10 trillion, equivalent to US$0.24 billion. By October, the figure dropped to VND 5.48 trillion, or US$0.22 billion, marking a month-on-month decrease of 10.25 percent.
Year-to-date, retail sales for cultural and educational items totalled VND 48.95 trillion, or US$2 billion. Despite the cumulative performance, the notable drop in October indicates potential challenges in the market for books, stationery, and other educational materials.
This decline underscores the fluctuating nature of demand in the cultural and educational sector, which is notably influenced by academic cycles and broader economic factors.
