Vietnam coffee exports fall 29 percent September over August

Vietnam’s coffee exports fell by 28.66 percent in September over August from US$402.2 million to US$286.9 million. Vietnam’s coffee exports for the year now stand at US$4.3 billion which is an increase of 37.8 percent over the same period last year. That said, Vietnam has seen a decline in the volume of coffee exports of 11.7 percent year-on-year.

Spain led as the largest importer in September with 5,786 tons, valued at US$34.19 million, showing moderate growth in both tons (5.95 percent) and value (11.77 percent). Italy and China also remained key markets, though Italy saw a major decline in volume (-46.2 percent) and value (-38.11 percent).

Also of note, Russia and Poland saw significant increases in coffee imports, with Russia importing 75.2 percent more in volume and 74.79 percent more in value, while Poland had a 51.04 percent rise in volume and a 52.28 percent increase in value. In contrast, the USA, Japan, and Thailand experienced sharp declines, with more than 50 percent reductions in both volume and value.
