Transport & infrastructure: Vietnam’s logistics sector March FDI tops US$156 million

The warehouse and transportation sector received US$156.66 million in foreign direct investment in March, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Of this, 11 new projects were licensed with a combined value of US$21 million.

Breakdown by activity:

  • Only 1 existing project was adjusted, with no additional capital reported.
  • 12 shareholding adjustments accounted for US$135 million, making up the majority of total investment.

Strong capital inflows through equity transactions signal sustained investor confidence in Vietnam’s logistics and transport infrastructure, particularly as e-commerce and export manufacturing drive demand. That said, this data only runs to the end of March before the US announced import tariffs on just about every country in the world.

If they are to go ahead, manufacturing outputs will likely slow which would significantly impact the logistics industry in Vietnam.
