Vietnam’s exports of textiles and garments reached US$3.07 billion in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a marginal increase of 0.24 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) export value of US$11.76 billion.
USA remains the top export market with marginal growth:
The USA was the leading export market in April, with exports valued at US$1.37 billion. This marks a slight increase of 2.81 percent from March and accounts for the largest share of the year-to-date exports at 43.85 percent.
Japan sees a decrease but remains a key market:
Japan was the second-largest export market in April, with exports valued at US$334.28 million, a decrease of 12.57 percent from the previous month. Japan accounts for 11.95 percent of the year-to-date exports.
South Korea sees a significant decrease:
Exports to South Korea experienced a substantial decrease of 30.83 percent in April, reaching US$201.70 million. South Korea accounts for 8.74 percent of the year-to-date exports.
Netherlands records substantial growth:
Exports to the Netherlands surged by 43.17 percent in April, reaching US$119.19 million. Netherlands accounts for 2.98 percent of the year-to-date exports.
Canada records moderate growth:
Exports to Canada experienced an increase of 7.14 percent in April, reaching US$97.92 million. Canada accounts for 2.88 percent of the year-to-date exports.
Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:
Panama experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 110.91 percent, followed by Russia and Italy. Conversely, Tanzania experienced the most significant decrease as there were no exports in April after substantial exports in March, followed by Mozambique and Luxembourg. Notably, there were no exports to Ivory Coast and Hungary in March, but there were exports in April.
