Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index closed down 4.78 points, or 0.29 percent, at 1,661.70 on 30 September, pressured by foreign outflows and weakness in technology and materials stocks, according to data from the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange→ view source.
Trading value reached VND 32.44 trillion (US$1.25 billion), with order-matching accounting for VND 29.37 trillion.
The VN30 index edged up 0.05 percent, supported by gains in financials, while mid- and small-cap stocks underperformed, falling nearly 1 percent each.
Sector-wise, information technology plunged 2.43 percent, materials lost 1.63 percent, and energy shed 1.97 percent.
Real estate and financials provided some support, up 0.37 percent and 0.27 percent respectively.
Foreign investors remained net sellers, offloading VND 4.31 trillion (US$166 million) worth of shares while buying VND 3.02 trillion (US$116 million), resulting in a net outflow of VND 1.29 trillion (US$50 million).
Heavy selling was seen in VIC, VHM, and HPG, while net buying focused on CII, VHM, and MWG.
Among the most actively traded stocks, SHB led with 102.9 million shares exchanged, followed by VPB with 76.4 million and HPG with 62 million.
The day’s top gainer was VRE, up 7.0 percent, while HSL and SGR were among the steepest losers, each down 6.84 percent.
The market’s dip, driven by broad weakness outside the blue-chip VN30 basket and persistent foreign selling, underscores investor caution heading into the final quarter of 2025.
