Vietnamnet is reporting that the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Spanish football league (La Liga) have signed an MOU in a first step toward the Spaniards providing training and talent development to the local league.
Why it matters: Vietnam loves football but the local league has been plagued by allegations of corruption for years. As a result, local football fans tend to follow the big international leagues. Just 7 percent of Vietnamese above the age of 18 turned into Vietnam’s V-league in 2018 whereas 26 percent watched the English Premier League, according to an Indochina Research study. Ergo, there is plenty of room for a reformed local league to grow and for all involved to profit.
