Japanese to build biomass plant in northern Vietnam

Japanese firm Erex is considering building a 50 megawatt biomass plant in Vietnam’s Bac Kan province, according to The Investor. This is alongside a number of other biomass power projects in neighbouring provinces.

Under Vietnam’s Power Development Plan 8, approved earlier this year, biomass is slated to account for 2,270 megawatts of power by 2030 and over 6,000 by 2050. As of 2020, Vietnam had just 500 megawatts of installed capacity.
