Russian tourist arrivals to Vietnam grow by 9.82 percent in December

Vietnam welcomed 28,520 tourists from Russia in December, an increase of 2,550 visitors compared to November, representing a month-on-month growth of 9.82 percent, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Tourism. In 2024, Vietnam counted 232,300 Russian arrivals, reflecting a remarkable 84.9 percent year-on-year increase.

Russian tourists are primarily drawn to Vietnam’s beach destinations such as Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, and Mui Ne, which are renowned for their tropical climate, luxury resorts, and family-friendly activities. These locations have become popular among Russian travellers seeking long stays and relaxation. Cultural hubs like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi also attract tourists interested in Vietnam’s history and vibrant urban life.

Russian visitors often travel in groups or as families, taking advantage of tailored tour packages and direct charter flights. Seasonal promotions during Russia’s winter months have boosted travel, with Vietnam positioned as a warm-weather escape.

Air connectivity has played a significant role in driving growth, with airlines like Vietnam Airlines and Aeroflot operating direct flights from Moscow to key Vietnamese cities. Charter flights to popular coastal destinations have also facilitated the influx of Russian tourists.

The strong growth in Russian arrivals underscores Vietnam’s appeal as a preferred leisure destination for long-haul travellers. Continued efforts to enhance hospitality services and promote Vietnam in the Russian market are expected to sustain this momentum.
