Red-tape may have killed planned K-pop festival in Hanoi

A number of K-pop bands have pulled out of a scheduled K-pop festival slated for this weekend in Hanoi after organisers failed to obtain the correct permits, Allkpop is reporting. With only a handful of bands left on the lineup there is a good chance the event will be cancelled altogether.

There is huge demand for live performances in Vietnam but excessive red tape and strict censorship laws make it challenging to put together live events. At the end of the day, this is costing the local economy probably millions in lost revenue particularly with Vietnamese music fans going overseas where there is less red tape and subsequently more live bands.
