Vietnam imported US$68.40 million worth of pastries, sweets and cereal products in August, up 37.4 percent from US$49.77 million in July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date imports reached US$407.14 million.
China was the leading supplier at US$14.43 million, up 27.2 percent from July, followed closely by the USA at US$13.86 million, a sharp increase from just US$0.72 million in the previous month.
Indonesia ranked third with US$12.81 million, representing 19.4 percent of the market.
Thailand contributed US$7.41 million, South Korea US$4.33 million, and Malaysia US$3.96 million.
Imports from the Philippines, Singapore, and several European suppliers remained smaller in scale but added diversity to Vietnam’s supply chain.
