Powdered milk production in Vietnam up 4.94 percent in October

Vietnam produced 14.79 thousand tons of powdered milk in October, up 4.94 percent from 14.10 thousand tons in September, according to the latest data from the National Statistics Office.

Over the first ten months of the year, output reached 127.55 thousand tons.

Vietnam Dairy Products JSC

Vietnam Dairy Products JSC (VNM) manufactures and distributes milk and dairy products under the Vinamilk brand.

VNM closed at VND 59,900 on Friday down 0.8 percent with 41,911,000 shares traded, worth VND 252,004 million.

Foreign ownership in VNM is currently capped at 100.0 percent, with current foreign ownership sitting at 49.7 percent.

Black market powdered milk

Premium organic formula Aptamil Essensis has surged from about VND 1.6–1.9 million or US$61–72 per 900g can to as high as VND 3.2–3.7 million or US$121–140, with some black-market sales nearing VND 4 million or US$152, it was reported in early November.

Sellers and experts cited three drivers: tighter supply, sudden demand spikes and consumer hoarding driven by FOMO, with many parents stockpiling multiple cans.

Thai milk factroy southern Vietnam

Thai dairy brand Betagen took a major step toward building its first factory in Vietnam by signing a long-term land-lease contract in Dong Nai lasting until 2062, it was reported earlier this month.

Betagen chose a 35,000-square-metre plot in An Phuoc Industrial Park.

Milk market leader Q3 performance

Vinamilk’s consolidated third-quarter revenue nearly reached 17 trillion dong, rising more than nine percent from a year earlier, with both domestic and overseas operations contributing to growth, according to Nha Dau Tu.

The publication notes domestic revenue improved due to digital transformation, expanded store coverage, and new products, while overseas sales rose sharply in key Asian and African markets.

Reporting noted that Thai Huong launched a US$2.7 billion high-tech agricultural investment in Russia in 2015, establishing dairy farms and processing plants across Moscow, Kaluga, Bashkortostan and Primorsky.
