Vietnam’s imports of plastic products reached US$861.54 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a slight increase of 0.55 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) import value of US$3.09 billion.
China is the overwhelming leader in plastic product imports:
China was the dominant supplier of plastic products to Vietnam in April, with imports valued at US$537.72 million. This marks a slight increase of 1.45 percent from March and accounts for a commanding 60.27 percent of the total year-to-date imports.
South Korea remains a key supplier despite a slight decrease:
South Korea was the second-largest supplier in April, with imports valued at US$122.04 million, a decrease of 2.58 percent from the previous month. South Korea accounts for 15.40 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Japan sees a moderate increase:
Imports from Japan rose by 5.01 percent in April, reaching US$77.17 million, contributing 9.06 percent to the year-to-date total.
Taiwan experiences a decrease:
Imports from Taiwan saw a decrease of 7.19 percent in April, with a value of US$26.10 million. Taiwan accounts for 3.41 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:
Germany experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 22.58 percent. Italy and Turkey also saw notable rises. Conversely, Singapore experienced the most significant decrease at 33.29 percent, followed by Denmark at 42.55 percent and Canada at 25.27 percent.
