Ores & minerals: Vietnam exports surge 365.83 percent in April, China top destination

Vietnam’s exports of ores and other minerals product reached US$26.69 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents an extraordinary increase of 365.83 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) export value of US$71.00 million.

China becomes the dominant export market with massive growth:

China emerged as the leading export market in April, with exports valued at US$14.17 million, an astounding increase of 415.69 percent from March. China now accounts for the largest share of the year-to-date exports at 47.83 percent.

Japan sees substantial growth to become a key export market:

Japan was the second-largest export market in April, with exports valued at US$2.59 million, a significant increase of 392.40 percent from the previous month. Japan accounts for 7.92 percent of the year-to-date exports.

Malaysia records substantial growth:

Exports to Malaysia also experienced significant growth of 388.02 percent in April, reaching US$1.31 million. Malaysia accounts for 6.88 percent of the year-to-date exports.

Taiwan sees a slight decrease:

Exports to Taiwan saw a marginal decrease of 6.70 percent in April, falling to US$0.69 million. Taiwan accounts for 4.35 percent of the year-to-date exports.

Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:

China, Japan, and Malaysia experienced massive increases in April. Conversely, South Korea and Thailand saw significant decreases. Notably, there were no exports to Thailand in April after exports in March.
