Vietnam’s imports of liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) reached US$245.76 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a substantial 34.16 percent increase compared to the import value in March, with a year-to-date import value of US$649.49 million for this category.
Qatar is the leading supplier despite a decrease:
Qatar was the top supplier of LPG to Vietnam in April, with imports valued at US$96.28 million. Qatar accounts for 19.65 percent of the total year-to-date imports.
Malaysia sees significant growth:
Malaysia experienced a notable increase in LPG exports to Vietnam, with April imports reaching US$66.95 million, a 29.62 percent increase from March. Malaysia’s year-to-date contribution is 25.08 percent.
Australia records a massive increase:
Imports from Australia saw an extraordinary increase of 701.41 percent in April, reaching US$13.32 million. Their year-to-date contribution is 4.10 percent.
Significant month-on-month decreases:
Kuwait experienced the most dramatic decrease in LPG exports to Vietnam, with imports plummeting by 91.23 percent in April. Saudi Arabia also saw a substantial drop of 70.64 percent, and the UAE recorded a decrease of 14.11 percent. China’s imports also saw a decrease of 11.50 percent.
Thailand shows no imports in April or March:
Interestingly, the data indicates no imports of LPG from Thailand in either April or March, with a year-to-date value of US$1.27 million.
