Counterfeit gas ring dismantled
Police in Tay Ninh said they dismantled a large fake liquefied petroleum gas ring and detained 16 suspects following coordinated raids on January 14 and 15.
Authorities searched 12 locations across Tay Ninh and neighboring provinces, seizing more than 6,200 empty cylinders, 4,500 gas filled cylinders, tens of thousands of labels and seals, pumping equipment, vehicles and related documents.
Power projects acceleration
Ministry of Industry and Trade has requested investors to accelerate power generation and grid projects, bringing several facilities into operation 3–6 months earlier than approved plans under the adjusted Power Development Plan VIII.
The ministry said delays must be clearly reported with proposed solutions, while liquefied natural gas power projects must begin operation before January 1, 2031 to qualify for existing incentive mechanisms.

Vietnam’s Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) industry
Vietnam’s liquefied petroleum gas industry plays an important role in household energy consumption, industry, transport, and commercial services, with demand driven by urbanisation and rising living standards.
The market relies heavily on imports, as domestic production covers only part of national consumption, making prices sensitive to global energy movements.
LPG distribution in Vietnam is highly fragmented, involving state-owned enterprises, private companies, and foreign-invested firms operating across import, storage, bottling, and retail.
The industry faces ongoing challenges related to safety management, counterfeit gas trading, and the transition toward cleaner and more efficient energy use.
