This positive month-on-month growth contributed to a year-to-date total for this product category, standing at $6,229,727,305.
In July 2025, the top five origins by dollar value for Vietnam’s imports of iron and steel were:
China
China remained the dominant origin in July, with import values reaching $454,402,602.
This represents a -7.03 percent month-on-month decrease from June.
China’s year-to-date total for these imports stands at $3,263,037,139, accounting for 52.38 percent of all YTD imports in this category.
Indonesia
Indonesia followed as the second-largest origin, with July imports valued at $114,022,367.
This figure indicates a 56.68 percent month-on-month increase.
Indonesia’s year-to-date total for these imports is $891,488,012, representing 14.31 percent of the total YTD imports for this product category.
Japan
Japan secured the third position in July with imports totaling $106,574,699.
This indicates a -11.31 percent month-on-month decrease.
Its year-to-date contribution to Vietnam’s imports of iron and steel is $880,891,226, making up 14.14 percent of the total YTD imports.
South Korea
South Korea contributed $106,010,201 worth of iron and steel in July.
Notably, South Korea experienced a significant 39.25 percent month-on-month increase.
South Korea’s year-to-date total for these imports is $683,115,203, accounting for 10.97 percent of the total YTD imports for this product.
Taiwan
Taiwan rounded out the top five import origins with $40,444,164 in July imports.
This country saw a -5.48 percent month-on-month decrease.
Taiwan’s year-to-date total for these imports is $327,542,094, representing 5.26 percent of the total YTD imports for this category.
