Indonesian tourist arrivals in Vietnam increase in January

Vietnam welcomed 19,274 tourists from Indonesia in January, accounting for 0.9 percent of total international arrivals, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Tourism. This represents a 7.7 percent increase from December and a 7.5 percent rise year-on-year.

Tourism between Indonesia and Vietnam has been growing steadily, supported by expanding economic, cultural, and people-to-people connections between the two countries. Both Indonesia and Vietnam are rich in culture, natural beauty, and history, making them attractive travel destinations for each other’s citizens. The increasing number of direct flights, relaxed visa policies, and mutual efforts to promote tourism have further facilitated this growing tourism exchange.

For Indonesian tourists, Vietnam offers a diverse range of attractions, including its bustling cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, picturesque landscapes such as Ha Long Bay and the Mekong Delta, and its historical landmarks like the ancient town of Hoi An. The affordability of travel in Vietnam, coupled with its rich culture, vibrant cuisine, and warm hospitality, makes it an appealing destination for Indonesian travelers. The short travel distance between the two countries and the availability of direct flights make it easy for Indonesians to explore Vietnam.

On the other hand, Vietnam has also become an increasingly popular destination for Vietnamese travelers. Indonesia, with its beautiful islands like Bali, Jakarta’s dynamic urban environment, and cultural heritage, attracts a growing number of visitors from Vietnam. Additionally, Indonesia’s reputation as a key destination for business and leisure travel has drawn Vietnamese tourists interested in both cultural exploration and professional opportunities.

Both nations have worked to enhance their tourism relationship through various bilateral agreements, tourism promotions, and improved air connectivity. With continued efforts to boost tourism infrastructure and promote cultural exchanges, tourism between Indonesia and Vietnam is expected to continue growing, strengthening the ties between the two countries and providing more opportunities for mutual exploration and cooperation.
