Vietnam welcomed 55,785 tourists from India in December, marking an increase of 4,652 visitors compared to November, reflecting a month-on-month growth of 9.10 percent, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Tourism. Indian arrivals reached 501,427 in 2024, showing a robust 27.9 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Indian tourists are increasingly recognising Vietnam as a popular travel destination, drawn by its rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and growing connectivity. Key attractions for Indian visitors include Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Ho Chi Minh City’s bustling markets, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Hoi An and Halong Bay. Additionally, Indian tourists are exploring leisure destinations such as Phu Quoc and Da Nang, known for their scenic beaches and luxury resorts.
Many Indian travellers seek vegetarian and halal food options, which are becoming more accessible in major tourist hubs. Indian weddings, business events, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism are also growing trends, with Vietnam increasingly catering to these markets.
The growth in Indian arrivals has been supported by improved air connectivity, with direct flights operated by Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, and Indian carriers like Indigo connecting major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore to Vietnam. Simplified visa policies and targeted promotional campaigns have further bolstered this market.
With sustained growth in Indian tourism, Vietnam is positioning itself as a preferred destination for both leisure and business travellers from South Asia, enhancing its presence in the region.
