Vietnam’s imports of fertilizers reached US$158.61 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a 10.03 percent increase compared to the import value in March, with a year-to-date import value of US$586.61 million for this category.
China remains the leading supplier despite a decrease:
China was the largest supplier of fertilizers to Vietnam in April, with imports valued at US$48.88 million. This marks a 17.15 percent decrease from March but still accounts for a significant 32.87 percent of the total year-to-date imports.
Russia sees a substantial increase to become a major supplier:
Russia experienced a significant surge in fertilizer exports to Vietnam, with April imports reaching US$44.55 million, a remarkable 74.82 percent increase from March. Russia now accounts for 21.82 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Other notable suppliers with significant increases:
South Korea saw a substantial increase of 46.96 percent in April, with imports valued at US$14.77 million. Laos also recorded a notable rise of 14.01 percent, reaching US$14.43 million. Indonesia and Malaysia experienced even more dramatic increases of 566.00 percent and 170.60 percent respectively, although their overall import values are lower.
Significant month-on-month decreases:
Norway experienced the largest month-on-month decrease at 41.54 percent, followed by Taiwan at 46.49 percent and Germany at 30.87 percent. Israel also saw a very large decrease of 94.76 percent, and Canada’s imports ceased entirely in April.
