Vietnam’s imports of computers, electrical products, spare parts, and components reached US$14.13 billion in August, up 2.09 percent from July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date imports stood at US$95.95 billion.
China remained the largest supplier at US$4.89 billion, though down 2.34 percent month-on-month, accounting for 34.89 percent of the total.
South Korea followed at US$3.44 billion, up 7.92 percent, while Taiwan ranked third at US$2.29 billion, down 6.32 percent. Japan supplied US$895.44 million, up 12.17 percent.
The US was the fifth-largest source at US$464.88 million, down 12.67 percent.
Malaysia grew 17.69 percent to US$432.28 million, while Israel doubled to US$319.77 million. Imports from Ireland slipped 4.61 percent to US$271.37 million.
Among smaller suppliers, Italy (up 188.90 percent), Poland (up 174.39 percent), and Sweden (up 300.41 percent) recorded sharp jumps, albeit from low bases.
Meanwhile, Spain, Belgium, and Hong Kong posted steep declines.
The data highlights Vietnam’s continued reliance on Asian supply chains, with China, South Korea, and Taiwan accounting for over three-quarters of all computer and electronic imports.
Smaller partners show volatility, while the US share remained below 4 percent.
