Vietnam’s imports of still image, video cameras, and parts thereof reached US$198.17 million in May 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a decrease of 3.98 percent compared to April, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) import value to US$939.75 million.
China maintains its dominant position despite a slight decline:
China remained the primary source for these imports, with a May value of US$111.69 million. This signifies a minor decrease of 3.25 percent from April but still accounts for a commanding 53.67 percent of the total year-to-date imports.
Taiwan and Thailand show strong growth:
Conversely, imports from Taiwan surged by 11.00 percent to US$40.44 million in May, solidifying its position as the second-largest supplier with 23.71 percent of YTD imports. Thailand’s imports also grew significantly by 29.19 percent.
UK records extraordinary month-on-month surge:
The UK exhibited remarkable month-on-month growth in May, with imports surging by 773.16 percent, albeit from a low base, to US$636,964. The USA also recorded a modest increase of 11.61 percent.
Notable declines in imports:
Conversely, some markets faced substantial declines in imports in May:
- Japan imports decreased by 31.11 percent.
- South Korea imports fell by 21.75 percent.
- The “Other” category also saw a significant decrease of 20.60 percent.
The overall slight decline in May’s imports of still image, video cameras, and parts thereof suggests a minor adjustment in demand or supply, with China remaining the primary source despite a slight dip, and Taiwan showing continued strength.
