Vietnam-Australia trade relations
Vietnam and Australia established diplomatic relations in 1973 and upgraded their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2023.
Australia is one of Vietnam’s key trading partners, ranking among its top ten globally, while Vietnam is one of Australia’s fastest-growing trading partners in ASEAN.
Bilateral trade is supported by agreements such as the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Trade cooperation focuses on energy, agriculture, education, and services, with Australia supplying coal, ores, and agricultural products, while Vietnam exports electronics, machinery, and textiles.
