Vietnam’s electricity production increases by 11.7% in February 2025

Vietnam’s electricity production has shown steady growth in the first two months of 2025. According to the latest data from Vietnam’s General Office of Statistics, the country produced 21.7 billion kWh of electricity in January 2025. In February, this figure slightly decreased to 20.9 billion kWh.

The cumulative total for the first two months of the year reached 42.6 billion kWh. This represents an 11.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, the year-to-date figure reflects a 2.9 percent increase when compared to the first two months of 2024, indicating continued growth in electricity production.

Electricity production is vital to meeting the energy needs of Vietnam’s growing economy, with increasing demand from both residential and industrial sectors.

The main sources of electricity in Vietnam are thermal power plants, hydropower, and renewable energy, with significant production coming from regions such as the north and central parts of the country.
