Vietnam recorded more than 2 million international visitor arrivals in December, up 15.7 percent from the same month last year, according to the most recent release from the country’s National Statistics Office.
For the full year 2025, international arrivals are expected to reach nearly 21.2 million, representing year on year growth of 20.4 percent.
Air travel remained dominant, with more than 17.8 million visitors arriving by air, accounting for 84.3 percent of the total and rising 20.2 percent from 2024.
Land arrivals reached almost 3.1 million, up 22.6 percent and accounting for 14.4 percent, while sea arrivals totalled about 273,900, increasing 10.4 percent and making up 1.3 percent.
Although Vietnam did not meet its 2025 target of 23 to 25 million international visitors, the result marks the highest annual total recorded by the tourism sector.
The NSO said the milestone reflects a new phase in Vietnam’s tourism recovery and deeper integration into the global tourism market, strengthening the country’s position and credibility as an international destination.
The 2025 performance is expected to provide a foundation for Vietnam to target higher levels of international tourism in the coming years.
